Politics=BORING!!!

By andrewfeeback

Ok, time to express one of my distastes: I hate politics.

If that’s not a strong enough word, I despise them.

For starters, none of it makes any sense. Another thing, I really can’t find any other way to say this, but they just seem outdated.

I wouldn’t feel like writing about this if everyone else felt the same way. But to my surprise, it seems as though very few do. I took a break from studying last night and went to the bathroom. My room is at the very end of the hall, so I pass everyone else’s dorms on the way there. I couldn’t help but notice as I passed each one that nearly everyone’s TVs seemed to be tuned in to the Vice Presidential debate. When I got back to my room, the person across the hall from me asked me what my opinion was of the debate so far. When I told him I wasn’t watching it, he gave me a surprised look and asked me if I planned on voting this year. When I told him yes, he said that I’d better start watching it. I proceeded to go back into my room, turn on the TV, and see how many channels weren’t showing something political.

The way I see it is this: I already know who I want to vote for (Obama), so why should I immerse myself so deeply watching boring politicians try to….I don’t know…be less boring than each other? It seems so pointless. And there are people giving up their time to watch the VICE presidential debate? Wow.

When I was in high school, I worked on the school newspaper with 3 sophomore girls who bickered about politics every day. One of them insisted on putting a “political update” in every issue. She was a talented writer, but the “updates” were so dry and uninteresting.

I, like so many other Americans, will cast my vote in November and hope that Obama brings a breath of fresh air to this country. But until then, and after it, no one will convince me to waste my time watching people just talk on TV.
